AGAVE STOCK PHOTOS

Agaves are a tough and ubiquitous plant. Southern California poses many new water restrictions so extreme xerophytes are the order of the day.

Agave americana large boxed
Reaches large dimensions of about 10 feet in diameter. Aggresive growth.
Agave americana small boxed
boxes range in between these two sizes.
Agave americana Medio Picta Alba
Latin for "Painted white in the middle". We have about 12 of these really old specimens. Due to the variegation they do not flower and die as most agaves but continue on!

Agave americana marginata growing in a field
Reaches large dimensions of about 10 feet in diameter. Develops a floppy leaf tip with age. Variegated yellow on the outside.

Agave angustifolia variegated 15gal
Stiff sword shaped leaves are edged with white. Plant will grow up on a trunk if kept trimmed. This plant was originally purchased from Ed and Betty Gay from the Cactus Ranchito as Agave angustifolia var. woodridgii.

Agave guiengola 5gal
Overstuffed cans in limited supply.
Agave attenuata Red Margin 5gal
Limited quantity of newly excavated plants.

Agave attenuata Red Margin 15gal
A hybrid of attenuata with a red margin running along the edge of the leaf. These are some extra large stately specimens with limited availability.

Agave parryi variety huachucensis 15gal
Excellent large specimens
Agave univitata 5 and 15gal
Grey sandy skin with interesting spination.

Agave vilmoriniana 5gal
Grows on the volcanic breciated cliffs of the Barancas in Guadalajara. Here in the gardens, we have found this plant capable of growing in the rich California soil with stunning results. It reaches approximately 8'-10' in diameter, and is gentle and unarmed. Easy to propagate, it is bulbiferous, sending forth hundreds of small plantlets from its flower shaft. We usually have a stock of these in five gallon containers. The photo is a five gallon specimen.  Zones 12-24 (Sunset Western)
